W and OD trail
Originally a railway track, the W and OD trail was converted to Washington’s favourite cycle trail. The 45 mile trail is mostly trarmac-ed with some stone and dirt sections as well. The Falls Church Section is great for taking the kids out on their bikes; especially if you finish at Mike’s Deli which does lunches and lovely homemade ice creams.
National Parks
The National Parks Association provides a great website on locations of parks and memorials buildings that are maintained by the NPA. Those who are in active military service with the US military are eligible for a free NPA pass. This is not offered to foreign affiliates but members have been known to receive passes anyway.
Wolf Trap
Wolf Trap is the only National Park dedicated to the performingarts. There are two main stages (Filene and the Barns) which offer a variety of performances from Big Name
performers to Sing-a-long-a films. It’s a great venue and a great night out.
